Ever had that time that you showed up to church but your buddy didn’t? Maybe you’re just new and don’t know many people yet. Either way, we wanted to create a group of people with two leaders who would help to make sure you always have people you are connected to when you are at Ephesus. Squad leaders also check in with their squad members from time to time to see how things are going and encourage you to keep doing the things in life that God wants you to be doing.
In the student ministry at Ephesus a squad is a group of students that Squad Leaders selected to be on their squad. Squads are made up of guys and girls from different schools and different grades so that people can meet new people in the student ministry and make new friends.
A few times through out the year we have Squad Nights on Wednesday nights. On these nights Jonathon preaches a shorter message and gives squads time to get together and discuss what the message was about. It also gives time for squad members to catch up on what’s going on in each other’s lives. On Squad Night 7th-12th graders combine to meet together from 6:30-7:30pm.
A Squad Leader is a high school student at Ephesus who has taken the time to go through student leadership training we offer on Wednesday nights during the summer. Following the training they commit to selecting a group of students to be a part of their “squad” and to encourage and support those students during their time in the student ministry.
Jonathon provides training during the summers for students who are interested in becoming squad leaders. The trainings take place on Wednesday nights in the summer when the youth aren’t gone on a trip and are meeting on campus at EBC. Any student who is entering 9th-12thgrade can apply to go through the training right before summer starts. The application is available on the GET INVOLVED page on ebc180.net.
The Squad Leaders for 2018-2019 are:
Most of them look pretty goofy, but if you are trying to spot them on a Squad Night look for the people wearing pink shirts that say squad leaders on the front.
Ask Jonathon next time you see him or send him an email at email@example.com
